Hello looking for some help getting off of a cruise ship in Barcelona 6am and taking a flight to Amsterdam 7:30am from Barcelona to catch a flight back to the US 11:30am. how how much time should I allow and is clearing customs involved?
You will disembark from the ship at 6 am and want to be on a flight that departs at 7:30 am??
You won’t make that first flight. With the current problems at Amsterdam airport, I’d avoid Amsterdam at all costs and fly direct BCA to the US.
For many people it’s a question of earning or using miles with a certain group, but during this time of airport meltdowns, it’s best to eliminate as many connections as possible.
Are you planning to do all this the same day?
Unless you have a special Delorean that does 88mph, there is no way to do it the same day.
If 'clearing customs', means passport control, you may or may not have to do it to leave the ship, depending on where it has been..
Otherwise you will have the Schengen exit process in AMS and 'customs' would occur when you arrive in the US.
Thank you all for your timely and frank input :). Looks like I'm flying out of Barcelona now. Sounds like it's worth the fees to avoid the headache
