App for Public Transportation in the Netherlands

Hello.

We went to Germany last year and used the Deutsche Bahn (DB) Navigator App on our phones. It was great as we relied on public transit the whole time we were there. I am wondering if the Netherlands would have a similar app?

We are planning a trip to the Netherlands in April.

Thank you!

Yes, there is the NS app, but mainly for trains between towns. I find good old Google maps effective, listing trains, buses and trams, with good information on where to board and route options.

For general use, just using your contactless capable credit card, or device with Apple/Google pay is most convenient for payment.

9292 is a universal trip planner for the Netherlands, like street address to street address.

We had both the 9292 app and the other app mentioned, but in the end, we just used Apple Maps, set to transit directions to get around. Apple Maps showed us what tram to take in Amsterdam, where the stops were and where to get off. and ETA and when the next tram was arriving. It also worked for the train from town to town. I also had Google maps with maps downloaded offline in case we ran into cell phone internet issues, but didn't need to use them in Amsterdam.
