Apartments/B & B recommendations Amsterdam Canal ring area (Sept 18 - 23)

We are 2 couples looking for an apartment or B & B with 2 bedrooms and a minimum of one bathroom. Prefer not to stay in a B & B where the owner is onsite. I have looked at Booking.com and quite a few are booked or are $5,000 on up. I understand from this forum that there is huge broadcasting convention going on with 55,000 people attending, so hotels are thru the roof, $400-$500 per night per room.
We want to be within 15 - 20 minute walk to most sites, train station, musuems, Ann Frank, etc. Having never been to Amsterdam before, maybe there is a neighborhood close by this area that would also work. Really would like to be close enough to walk everywhere.

Love to hear any recommendations you may have.
Thanks so much

Look at Jordaan neighborhood. Can you change your dates? We did that in both Paris and Milan due to Fashion Weeks.

I’m afraid you’re looking for a needle in a haystack. As you’ve already learned, your stay coincides with the IBC convention which causes hotel rates to skyrocket. As a result the rates of apartments/B&B increase too. Holiday rentals are already under very strict laws in Amsterdam, and this convention doesn’t help.
Unless you can change your dates, I would look for another place to stay. For instance in Haarlem, Leiden or Utrecht.

In all honesty, I think $400-$500/night is sadly that going rate for hotels, as we are in that ballpark next month both in central Paris and central Amsterdam. Our son once stayed on a non operational canal boat through Airbnb and had fun with that, though maybe not great for 2 couples. Also, consider staying outside of Amsterdam (maybe Haarlem and take the 15 min tram ride in every each day?)

Thank you, we can't change our dates, flights already booked and Viking cruise already booked. I did have resevations at ML Hotel in Haarlem, friend highly recommended It looked very nice but canceled yesterday as we really didn't want get on a train each and every day. I did see a small B and B in the Jordan neighborhood. Anyone familiar with it or the area?

As you can see on Google maps, the B&B is within the canal ring, but on the outer edge. The area is very nice with lots of restaurants and shops nearby.
Read the reviews if you want to know the experiences of previous guests. The only downside seems to be the ladder-like stairs that are typical for houses in Amsterdam.

Thank you, stairs don't bother us, love the old canal houses

Monica; you now have 2 topics about a place to stay in Amsterdam in mid September. This one and the one you started earlier this month. As you now know, your visit coincides with the IBC convention which causes prices of hotels to skyrocket and availability to plummet.
You need to understand that there really is no point in asking for more recommendations, because people giving recommendations usually don’t check to see if the recommended hotel is available.
What you need to do is follow the advice of Paul in your other thread;
“ My suggestion is that if you see something on Booking.com, it looks OK, and in your price range, grab it fast.”

I appreciate it can be daunting to make a booking, especially when you also have to book a room for another couple, but you really can’t afford to wait any longer.

Sorry, I thought I had 2 different requests, my 1st one was for hotel recommendations, this one was for Apartmants or B and B's, really wasn't considering apt or B and B's at first. I do have a hotel booked, but on the $420 per night, lovely, great location, but really don't want to pay that after a cost of a cruise a few days before
Should I have just tagged this request on to my original hotel request?
