My husband and I usually stay in aparthotels or air bnb’s because we need a kitchen. I have lots of food intolerances so o really need to be able to cook my own meals. Any recommendations for any places and bonus if it’s on or near the canal.
While I have not stayed in any of these, Residence Inn, Citadines and Adagio all have aparthotels in Amsterdam.
You could try https://sweetshotel.amsterdam. Two of their units have kitchens. All are on canals, as they are former bridge houses.
I also have not stayed in any of the hotels Frank II mentions, at least not in Amsterdam, so can't comment on the locations. However, if you join Citadines's loyalty club (I think it's on the Ascott website), you can accumulate points that will be enough to reap you a good discount next time you stay in one of their properties. I never thought I would be one of those people, but I have stayed in Citadines in Brussels, 2 in Hong Kong and also Melbourne and every time I stay I get a good percentage off. Likewise the Adagio is an Accor property and if you join Accor Live Limitless (ALL) you get 10% off when booking, or an upgrade. I booked my in-laws into one in Brussels and we also stayed in one in Rennes. I think there is a free loyalty scheme and a paying one, and this is just the freebie.
EDIT: You can also use the discount for other Accor hotels like Novotel, Ibis and Mercure. We have been able to use it a lot.
I stay in a Citadines every time I go to Brussels, the formula is excellent, but they clear the cupboards of any salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc, anything that would jump-start your cooking, so make sure you bring some limited supplies from home or be prepared to buy these locally and potentially also bring the remainders home.
