Antigen test locations Amsterdam

Husband and I will be returning to USA from Amsterdam via Heathrow in early May. I do not plan to take eMed self test in luggage as we are carryon and do not want to use limited space for test kits. Also, hoping test will not be required for reentry by time we return. I have found testing at testservice.nl (can cancel 1 hour prior to appointment with few testing locations) and spoedtest.nl (can cancel 24 hours prior to appointment). Has anyone been tested in The Netherlands and what was your experience? Advice and observations?

When we were in Amsterdam in November, we had to be tested within 24-hours of entering any restaurants. We booked our tests through testservice.nl. At the time, there were many convenient testing locations, and tests were free if they were for doing activities in the Netherlands. It was a very easy process, and we got the results quickly via email with a link to load them into the CoronaCheck app. Technically, these tests were not supposed to be used for international travel, but there was a way to switch to a QR code that could be used for travel. We just couldn't say that it was for travel when we booked, or it wasn't free. Since we were getting tested anyway to eat in restaurants, we were able to also use our free test to travel to Italy.

Of course, that was in November, and regulations have changed since then. But I am responding to let you know that the process was easy.

I used spoedtest this past weekend. There are a ton of locations to choose from. Booked my appt the night before, plenty of times available. They said results come in 30 minutes but it was more like 45. Results come via email. Took a screenshot and uploaded them via the United app. Approved by the airline pretty quickly. Cost 40 Euros for the rapid antigen test (cheapest option).

BB, dianabaron1. Thank you for your details. Looks like testservice.nl has fewer number of locations as requirements have loosened. Can you tell me of the two mentioned in my original post which locations are closest to Schipol as we are staying near airport? I think there is a different testing site within Schipol but is more expensive.

That, I can't answer. I had my tests in central Amsterdam--one near the Anne Frank museum, and one near where I was staying.

We had to test this past Friday for our flight back to the states on Saturday. We tested at a location near our hotel in Amsterdam. It was about 2 blocks from Dam Square on Damrak (I think the address was Damrak 85), right next to from the Amsterdam Cheese Factory. It was very simple, we just walked in, filled out a form on google forms with our phones, had our test done and about 2 hours later we received an email with our negative tests and travel certficates. The antigen test cost 40 euros. We went about 9:00 am and there was no line. I believe they were open from 8am to 8pm and they said it is usually very busy first thing in the morning and around lunch time.

Angie and all----the rapid antigen is now good for travel back to the U.S, correct? I thought i read somewhere it had to be a specific type of rapid antigen (NAAT??). I don't know how I would know if it was NAAT. Angie, did you ask just for a rapid antigen (no further specifics)? Thank you all!

Yes Kathy, the rapid antigen is valid to travel back to the US. I asked for the antigen test and verified that it was the cheapest test valid for traveling to the U.S.

I am surprised the US still has to go through the antigen tests considering they were the first ones to ditch the masks and other covid restrictions (of course that's not all the States). I always thought the US would be the first to ditch the antigen tests before my country of Canada which has tougher restrictions (especially in my province of Quebec). Will the US remove it once and for all for those vaccinated or there are no plans yet?

Husband and I used Test2Fly in airport. It was easy to find, no one in line so no need for appointment, had results in 15 minutes. Fee was comparable to other testing locations. Convenience was our motivating factor. Allow for extra time at airport to get through security. It took us 2+ hours due to limited personnel.

Your guess is as good as ours. Every so often an article is published saying it's "likely" to go away "soon," yet here we still are.
