For 3 nights in June, would you stay at Hotel Estherea or Kimpton de Witt. I've been planning on Hotel Estherea, but I see the Kimpton on Hotwire for the same price... hmmmm decisions, decisions. Are they both relatively close to the train station? We will be going to Zaans Schans one day and the Volendam/Marken area another? Also, I'm traveling with teenagers and the Kimpton looks in the middle of the red light area... Any advice?

I am sure either hotel would be fine - however, you might consider renting a houseboat or an apartment or home through VRBO.
the price will be competitive and you will have more room
the red light district is what it is, mostly harmless but you want to be especially careful at night.
It can also be fairly boistrous, especially on the weekends.
If you want to cap off your trip, consider Martine's Table for a fabulous Dutch meal in a typical Dutch home
It is located on the edge of the red light district, but a 5 minute walk to Centraal station.
