Anne Frank House virtual waiting room for tickets?

Hey all,

So like most people, when I tried to buy tickets to the Anne Frank house 6 weeks out, they sold out for my dates. I read to try again the week before my trip, so I’m trying again. I had a couple questions though - do they go on sale at 9am or 10am Amsterdam time? The website said 10am CEST which is 4am for me. I logged in at 4am, nothing different (and the 6 weeks out hadn’t opened up yet either). We tried for a few more minutes, decided we got the time wrong, and set alarms to try again a little before 5am. Because I can’t fall back asleep after that I kept checking & suddenly I’m in a waiting room with 9000+ people.

That hasn’t happened to me when trying before. Everyone says tickets are released in rolling waves when you’re trying for a cancellation & to keep refreshing for 20+ minutes. Does that work even with the waiting room? In my experience trying to refresh after a virtual queue messes things up. Just wondering if I’m doing this right because I’m so tired lol. Thanks! 😴

As I write this, It’s currently 10:22 am in Amsterdam. The new tickets were just released 20 minutes ago at 10 am local Amsterdam time.
The virtual waiting queue is there so the website doesn’t crash when too many people are trying to buy tickets at the same time. When you’re in a virtual queue you should NOT refresh, because you will lose your place in the queue. You just need to be patient and wait until you can access the website.

My husband and I are both online trying to get tickets. We tried for the museum tour plus introduction and all tickets sold out for the dates we selected. I was able to get in for just the museum tour, got all the way through for our date and looks like payment went through....but still haven't received the email confirmation. So, not sure if we have tickets or not!?

Thanks! Once it let me in just now, the whole of next week opened up. I’m glad I didn’t panic and hit refresh. 😅

Just an update....so the first attempt at 5:00 am (EST) this morning didn't work, even though I received a response that everything went through. At that point, all times for the days we were trying for were sold out. We just went back into the site and lots of tickets available and we were able to get the date and time we wanted. YAY!

AnnieD, when you bought your tickets the 2nd time, did you immediately get a confirmation with tickets? I'm on the West Coast and got up at 2am this morning, bought tickets for the option with 30 min talk, entered cc info and the browser said all was good with a note that an email confirmation is coming. Usually this is instantaneous. I waited 5 min and went to bed. Got up this morning, no email (and yes, checked spam). Checked cc and don't see a charge, or a pending charge. So does that mean my transaction actually didn't go through?

nvm, I checked and still a few tickets left for our dates, so I purchased before waiting for a response.

If anyone has the same problem, I did immediately get an email confirmation, and got a cc alert text for the transaction. Also the confirmation screen had the ability to download the tickets. I never closed the browser tab from the first transaction, it is missing the download ability.

So sad that I got myself up at 2am to buy tickets at my preferred time and it didn't go through. But happy I still got tickets this afternoon.

bethhech1....Yes, that's exactly what happened with us. I had emailed the Anne Frank website and their response was it didn't go through. That's when we went back online and there were a lot of tickets available and we got an immediate response with the tickets to download.
