Amsterdam- where to stay?

Hello! This will be my first time traveling to Europe and I'm looking for any recommendations on which area to stay in Amsterdam? Any recommendations for airbnb or hostels that you have heard good reviews about! There will be 3 females staying together so we are looking for something safe and clean! We will be staying for 3-4 days!

I stayed at Shelter Jordan hostel which was safe and clean. Near the Anne Frank house. In case in matters to you there is no drinking or drugs allowed it is run by a church so there are bible passages on some of the walls and sometime a prayer session you are welcomed to join. There is no pressure I always declined

Hotel d'Amsterdam has a triple room - nice place, family run, clean, well located (about 10 mins to Vondelpark, 15 to Museumplein, 5 minutes to the bus stop that will take you to/from the airport).

Conscious Hotels has 4 hotels scattered around central Amsterdam - their newest hotel (The Tire Station) has triple rooms and is near Vondelpark.

For hostels, try Cocomama or Ecomama. Also, there is Hostelle which is a women's only hostel with dorm rooms ranging from 4 to 10 beds. It's further outside of the center than the other 2 (down near the sports stadium), but it's within walking distance of the metro station so you can hop on the subway to get into the city center.

For Airbnb, I had friends staying in a 3 bedroom 1 bath unit in the De Pijp neighborhood which was on a great street, but the owners required at least a 5 night minimum - but you can search for other listings in the area that fit your budget. Other neighborhoods to search would be Oud-West, Jordaan and over by De 9 Straatjes (Nine Streets) shopping district.

Stayoaky Vondelpark is the hostel that looked most appealing to me. And it is one of the few hostels listed in Rick Steves Amsterdam and the Netherlands. I am a man solo traveler. I have not been to Amsterday yet. My trip is later this year. On past trips to other places, I have stayed at low end hotels, and at hostels. So far I have only stayed hostel rooms that were mixed gender with 4 beds in the room (2 bunk beds, me and up to 3 others). This time I couldn’t find any appealing 4 bed hostel rooms at a good price. So I booked an 8 bed room in Amsterdam and I’ll see how it works out. I use tripadvisor dot com for reviews, descriptions, and photos of hotels or hostels; I use booking dot com for additional information and to make my reservations. I selected the map view in Booking dot com, limited my selection to available places; I picked what I picked based on a non-quantifiable combination of fewest beds in the room, distance from the art museums and tram stops, and price, but I was not looking for the cheapest place. I was just looking for some place under about $60 U.S. dollars a night. I went over my budget for Amsterdam but my hostel in the Hague is under $40 a night.
