I’m in the process of mapping out a flight coming back from Africa at the beginning of August. Currently, the first layover is in Amsterdam (2hrs) and the second is in Paris (5.5hrs). I’m planning on adjusting my departure times for extra travel but I’m not sure if I should just do more time in both or keep one short and spend a longer layover at the other for more opportunities. Any advice for a solo female traveler would be appreciated ☺️ not looking to break the bank but also willing to spend a little for a full experience. Thank you in advance!
Welcome to the forum breezy41895. Could you clarify - you have two layovers on the way home? Or you are choosing between two flight options, one has layover in Amsterdam and the other in Paris? Regardless, with those stated layover amounts you don't have enough time to leave either airport to do much of anything as you will have to go through entry immigration to get out of the airport, and that can be time consuming especially in mid-summer when the airports are slammed. Plus you need to be back at the airport at least 2 hours early (in Paris, 3 is better) to go back through security and then get to your onward flight (to the USA? if so, there can be extra security measures at the gate too). If you extend any layover, I would want a much heftier cushion (or better yet, stay overnight).

How much of an adjustment will you be able to make? Opinions will vary on this response, yet I would plan on no less than three days in either city for a quick visit.
