We will be in Amsterdam for Dec 18-22...is there a transit/attraction pass that we should consider buying? We will take the train from the airport and then of course visit the Museums, Anne Frank etc. Thanks for any advice. We realize that is is walkable and plan on our "wheels" being how we get places but always great to use public transport too.
Use your "tap" credit card to ride the trams and trains.
Sam-We will be in AMS the first week in June. Please explain what a "tap" credit card is
Hi..A "tap" credt card is a regular card but instead of sliding it thru a reader or pushing it in the Chip reader ..you simply tap the card on the credit card machine/reader. It should have ))))))) on the card in the front if it is a tappable card.
Please find more information on "tapping" in and out here: https://www.ovpay.nl/en as well as another thread discussing transportation in Amsterdam that might be useful: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/netherlands/paying-for-amsterdam-public-transit.
If your credit card isn't suitable for chip payment, you can still get an "OV-Chipkaart" that you can store money on and tap in and out with.
