Amsterdam tram ticket price

I am in the process of deciding which tram ticket package to buy while in Amsterdam. However, I have not been able to find the cost of purchasing one tram ticket and so not able to evaluate between one ticket and the various ticket packages. Anyone know the current price?

These are the prices from the draft version of our next guidebook edition, expected in May:

Paper Tickets: Within Amsterdam, a single transit ticket (called a single-use or disposable OV-chipkaart) costs €2.80 and is good for one hour on the tram, bus, and metro, including transfers. Passes good for unlimited transportation are available for 24 hours (€7.50), 48 hours (€12), 72 hours (€16.50), and 96 hours (€21). Given how expensive single tickets are, think about buying a pass before you buy that first ticket.

Does anyone know if the multi-day tickets can be used for side trips to Haarlem or Alkmaar? Or are they only good in Amsterdam proper?

The multi-day tickets are only valid in Amsterdam. But the Iamsterdam card (which includes the multi day Amsterdam only transit pass), will cover the major attractions in Haarlem.
