Need to get from Amsterdam to Strasbourg France in October for a barge trip leaving 4PM Sunday Oct 11th. Want to be in Strasbourg on the 10th to make pretty sure I can get there in time for the barge. What are my options for the train, how long is the trip?
For train have a look at www.nsinternational.com
Most straightforward is Eurostart to Paris, then TGV to Strasbourg. You need to change stations in Paris, but Paris Nord and Paris Est are only a couple of blocks away from each other.
You could also take a train to Brussel and take the once a day afternoon TGV from Brussel to Strasbourg. Avoids out-off-station transfers.
And lastly you could go via Germany, via Offenburg or Karlsruhe. That route you best book via Deutsche Bahn (www.bahn.de) though. This is potentially the cheapest route.
Note that october is still ages away. Don't be surprised if many trains aren't bookable yet.
