Amsterdam to Groesbeek

Good day, I will be coming to Amsterdam with Trafalgar tours in June of 2022. We have a free afternoon on June 15th I want to go to the Canadian War Cemetery at Groesbeek, to pay respects to my Wife’s late Uncle who was killed at war’s end.
Can you suggest the best way take a round trip for two? I speculate we’ll spend 2-3 hours onsite. Thank you.

Take the train to Nijmegen and a bus from there to Groesbeek. Then a local bus to the cemetary, there is a bus stop just outside.

Or do it the Dutch way and rent bikes in Nijmegen.

The train from Amsterdam Centraal to Nijmegen is very easy. Currently (and probably a year from now) there are 4 trains an hour connecting. The Dutch trains run a clock-face timetable which means the same trains at the same times each hour.

Two trains, at xx:24 and xx:54, go directly there, stopping at 5 stations on the way, taking 1:23. Two other trains, at xx:05 and xx:35, have a quick connection at Utrecht Centraal onto the train from Schiphol Airport, usually on the same platform, and take a total of 1:27 to Nijmegen.

There are a few combinations during the day which can be 3 minutes faster and use a German ICE as far as Arnhem but they cost more and because the ICE trains go to Frankfurt or Basel there are more chances for difficulty, and the connection is not on the same platform at Arnhem. Unless you want the experience of an ICE, or the 3 minutes means a lot, I'd skip that and stick with the normal Dutch NS trains.
