My wife and i will use the train from Schiphol to Amsterdam, travel by bus to Aalsmeer (flower auction) and the train (round trip) to Utrecht. Does the Amsterdam & Regional Travel Ticket (we'd get the 2 day version) cover the train from the airport, the bus 172 to Aalsmeer and the train to Utrecht? Thanks for comments. Can the "Regional Travel Ticket" be some sort of "add on" to the IAmsterdam Card, or are the two purchased separately?
Jon
The website for that ticket says that the linked PDF file mentioned shows the limits of what is covered. I've looked at that map so:
cover the train from the airport, the bus 172 to Aalsmeer and the train to Utrecht?
Airport - yes
bus 172 - yes
Train to Utrecht? - no. Look at the regional graphic on the 2nd page and you will see that the only train in that direction is the slow train to Hilversum which is not as far as Utrecht. Having just ridden them frequently last week, I know that most trains between Utrecht and Amsterdam Centraal bypass Hilversum and call at zero to two outer Amsterdam stations, the Bijlmer Arena or Amsterdam Zuid. It is possible to take the slow train to Hilversum and then make a short connection to Utrecht. What are you going to Utrecht for?
It might be confusing for the ticket collector, but a return ticket Hilversum-Utrecht should do the trick. Buy it at Amsterdam Centraal, and take the regular Intercity train to Utrecht.
