Amsterdam Place to stay + itinerary

Hi!
I'm looking for a place to stay in amsterdam for 1 or 2 nights.. maybe a midrange hotel or bnb, around the inner canal area, simple, clean and maybe new if possible and affordable.

I'm also looking to see if my itinerary is doable. we are two people in our early30s who just want a short glimpse of amsterdam before we head on to switzerland.

Friday - arrive at 10am via dutchflyer ferry, chek in at hotel, eat, see some sights/canal boat, go to Keukenhof, back to hotel
Saturday - go to Keukenhof (if we werent able to do so the day before), just eat, walk, sightsee, then on to switzerland in the evening

Thanks in advance!

Last year, I stayed at Hotel Brouwer on the Singel canal and found it a comfortable, good value. Double with bath 95 euros. I had a cozy room with canal view (and a wireless router right in my room!). Definitely not new, but has an elevator.

There are many affordable rentals on Air BnB! Great website, easily navigable.

Hi Laurel, nice suggestion! However, a lot of the places near the city and within our budget were already booked! I did find one.. atlantis hotel..

does anyone know if it's worth visiting Keukenhof Gardens? Or is there a better tulip garden nearby?

Just to let you know, Keukenhof is only open from 3/20/14 - 5/18/14, so it may not be open when you're there.

Find a cute houseboat to rent for a couple of nights and get the true Amsterdam experience! There are quite a few listed on VRBO and airbnb.

I booked the NH City Centre for under $80 (USD) a night through a Hotwire Hot Deal. It's well reviewed and in a great location near a HEMA.
