Can anyone recommend a nice place for lunch within walking distance of the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum? Going this September.
What are you looking for? A quick sandwich in between museum visits or a longer more leisurely lunch?
I enjoyed my lunch in the cafe of the Rijksmuseum itself
There's also a nice restaurant in the modern art museum that is adjacent to the Van Gogh Museum.
About a 10-minute walk is a place called The Pantry.

Also not far is The Seafood Bar.
The restaurant at the Rijksmuseum was perfectly fine.
I liked Café Loetje about a 5 minute walk from there. It's listed in the RS Amsterdam guide.
We had a fine meal at this place in March. It's near the Seafood Bar.

In September, it would be lovely to sit outside, and they had a huge area for it.
On the recommendation of my nearby hotel, I had lunch one day at Small Talk, a cafe which is less than a 5 minute walk from the Van Gogh museum but seemed to have mostly locals. It has outdoor seating if the weather is nice. On other days I enjoyed dinners at The Pantry and The Seafood Bar (both recommended in posts above) and an ok lunch at the restaurant in the nearby modern art museum.
We loved the food and experience at The Pantry. But you definitely want to make a reservation.
I liked a place called Foodhallen. It's a big food emporium with various vendors and types of food. It's in walking distance from the museums but not super close. Google Maps shows it as a bit over a mile, maybe 20 minutes. I went there twice while I was in AMS. Once I had a salmon poke bowl and another time I had a burger (yum). I highly recommend it. There are tables to sit at.
Foodhallen is so fun and yummy. I had lunch there yesterday !(A repeat visit from a few years ago). It's always so difficult deciding !!
I can tell you one place within walking distance of those museums to avoid: Pompa on Willemsparksweg. A cute place but where I got awful food poisoning a few years ago.
