Amsterdam-London Eurostar to Suspend in June, 2024

Construction in Amsterdam Central Station will suspend this direct service for at least six months, starting June 2024. Transfer to Eurostar in Brussels still available. This long link is a Gift link, no paywall.

EDIT: There is new evidence that this situation will apply Amsterdam->London, but not London-> Amsterdam. Check for updates.

@Tim; the evidence isn’t new. It was always clear right from the start that it was only the Amsterdam TO London route that was going to be affected. The article you linked to literally confirms this and it’s also clear from the thread started by VAP in November that Nigel linked to in his post.

The reason the direct London TO Amsterdam route will continue to operate is because all passport control is always done in London not in Amsterdam. So the reconstruction of the Amsterdam Central train station doesn’t impact these trains.

Here is one example of the inaccurate internet announcements I unknowingly repeated:

Initial plans for the reconstruction of the Amsterdam Centraal station were supposing an interruption of opposite London to Amsterdam Eurostar services for an 11-month period. Due to massive critics, the plans were changed and a feasibility study was held for avoiding any Amsterdam - London Eurostars interruption. However, the outcome is that it is impossible to avoid any interruption.

This is from https://www.railvolution.net/news/amsterdam-to-london-eurostar-services-to-be-suspended-for-six-months As you note, it is not correct information, and that is why I edited my post above.

The article quoted is not inaccurate. It reports the "final evolution" of the plans, which were initially a suspension for 11 months (effectively a year) in both directions to 6 months in both directions, to what it is now- a 6 month suspension from Amsterdam onwards.
The report may not be written in very clear terms, but is accurate that it is a uni-directional suspension. Nothing has changed since that article was written- before this post was first raised
It is possible, of course, that plans will change again or the building work over-run.
But Eurostar are currently selling tickets on the London to Amsterdam through train and Amsterdam to London transfer (from another Eurostar, ex Thalys) service at Brussels.
At no stage have official announcements or press reportage been inaccurate- only misunderstood notifications on bulletin boards like this.

Those who wish to travel by train from London to Amsterdam can safely go ahead with their plans and book their tickets.

I was able to book Rotterdam to Brussels and then another train Brussels to London. I have 1hr 45min between trains to get through passport control. Is that enough time?. This is in July ‘24 after they stop going Amsterdam to London direct.

the answer, MSterling, is on your other question
