My adult son and I are coming to Amsterdam for 5 nights in early October and would like housing recommendations. We will be going to several museums as well as the parks, canals and great restaurants and thought the Jordaan or the Museum quarter would be good areas to stay. We both like to walk. Also if you have suggestions regarding day trips or another place to go for a few days from Amsterdam, that would be helpful. My son is going on to London to meet his wife and I need some ideas where to go after Amsterdam. Thanks for your help. Nancy
Leiden, Delft , and The Hague are all excellent day trips and these three can be easily combined. The Jordaan quarter, Canal Ring both good choices.
We enjoyed our stays at Hotel l’Ambassade in Amsterdam.
Can’t give you any recommendations for housing/accommodation. If you want to see more of the Netherlands after Amsterdam, you can do what most tourists do and stay in the provinces of Holland and go to Delft, Leiden etc. or go to the North (Groningen for instance), East (Deventer, Nijmegen) or South (Breda, ‘s-Hertogenbosch,Maastricht). Some of these cities are older then the ones in the provinces of Holland.
