Hello. First time visitor to Amsterdam and traveling with my 10 and 12 year old. We are staying in a central location and walking distance to the sites on the inner ring. We have 2 full days. Anybody travel here with young kids and recommend sites or attractions? Any museums in particular? Thanks!
The usual museums like van Gogh, Rijksmuseum or Anne Frankhuis will depend on your kids (do the like art and history or not).
But really aimed at children is Nemo: https://www.nemosciencemuseum.nl/en/
Near Nemo you'll also find the Maritime Museum: https://www.hetscheepvaartmuseum.com
For Kids:
-Maritime Museum
-Zoo
-the new Microtopia Museum
-Resistance Museum
-NEMO
all of the above are within walking distance to each other.
A bit pricey but Madame Taussaus, Amsterdam Dungeon, Ripleys Believe it or not, and Over the Edge are very fun.
In the outskirts of the city a stadium Tour of Amsterdam Arena is cool.
I think for kids, just walking around and seeing the canals, the way the houses have settled, and the HUGE number of bikes will be interesting. Do be careful at ALL times of bikes and make sure your kids understand the importance of getting out of their way!
Thanks everybody. Great tips and ideas! These are days 15 and 16 of a family trip so the kids are about done with the traditional museums!
