Will be there for 5 nights in July. Have booked tentatively the chasse hotel recommended on this forum. Anyone familiar with the location?. Any other centrally located 4 star the hotels in city center? We enjoy museums and local color!
While that looks like a lovely hotel, I wouldn't call it particularly centrally located. That could be a good thing as last week, we found the area around Dam Square to Central Station extremely crowded for what we considered would have been a slightly slower time in March. However, we hadn't been back to Amsterdam for 18 years...so big crowd changes. While your hotel is not 'central', it is on the 14 Tram line, which we found convenient for many museums across town (Ann Frank, Resistance Museum, Jewish History Museum, etc.). We stayed in the museum quarter, which was quieter than central Amsterdam, but a mere block from the Rijiksmuseum, Moca, Van Gogh, and Stedelijk Museum and an easy tram into the center. I'd recommend the area, but we stayed in a three star hotel, lovely, but not as nice as your pick.
R. Thanks for the info about the location of the Chasse hotel. We did want to stay in the Museum area. What was the name of the 3 star hotel in which you stayed?
We are looking mainly for good location, breakfast, clean bed of adequate size, and hopefully fitness center. We are open to three-star hotels as well!

The Chasse is definitely not near the museum quarter, but it is near multiple tram and bus lines. It also is very peaceful with large rooms. As a boist, it’s within walking distance of Foodhallen.
Hotel Vondel is a great choice in the museum district. Express Bus from he airport stops 1 block away. Trams are the same distance.
