My husband, adult daughter and I will be spending 4 nights in Amsterdam after bringing train from Paris--Burgges and will be flying back to the states from Amsterdam next June. A couple of questions, the heat bothers the hubs, so will we need to have ac? I have it narrowed down to Hampton Inn, Hotel Brouwer or Hotel Abba. All three of us will share a room and I would like to keep it at 150euros a night, less would be great! Has anyone stayed at the above and have any pros or cons? Or is there someplace else I should check into? I know Hampton is away from the city center but I understand it is very easy to be there in 10-15 min via the tram. I would be open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!
Book as soon as possible if you want $150 a night. I would stay in Hampton Inn.
It has been awhile since I have been in AMS. Rooms are quite pricey, especially in weekends. All of the B&Bs we used to stay in Amsterdam South have been divided and sold as condos.I
I prefer small hotels out in the suburbs anyway.
The nicest rooms I have had anywhere, especially form the price, is out at Hotel Schiphol. They run you 2 mi. to the airport where it is a 10 minute ride into center city.
Check out the Avenue Hotel in the city center. It's halfway between Centraal Station and Dam Square. All rooms air-conditioned and there is an ice-machine. Probably a bit more than 150 but it includes a hot breakfast and is much more convenient than an airport hotel.

If you are talking about the Hampton Amsterdam Center East, it would not be my idea of an ideal place to see Amsterdam from. Modern building in a modern development on a busy highway with the main line train tracks in and out of Amsterdam Centraal on the other side of the highway.
The Abba, on the other hand is a short walk from the Vondelpark, Leidsplein, and Rijksmusem, Van Gogh Museum. Hotel Brouwer, old building on a canal in a busy part of town would be preferred as well.
You'll have to plug in your dates to see availability and how the rates come up, but the following have family rooms or triples and have air conditioning: Hotel D'Amsterdam, Ibis Centraal Station, Ibis Styles Amsterdam City (in De Pijp neighborhood). All of these are in the city center. While not "quaint", they are on par with staying in a Hampton Inn and, bonus, they have elevators so you don't need to haul your luggage up the typically steep staircases found in many other hotels in the center of Amsterdam.
The Avenue Hotel also has family rooms & triples. Be aware that the Ibis at Centraal Station does not have AC.
You should be so lucky as to have weather that's warm enough to need AC . Weather in the Netherlands is on the cool side in summer. AC does help in noisy areas as it muffles sounds .
Just an FYI...
The Brouwer recently told me they are renovating till at least April and are not taking bookings right now and do not know what their rates will be when re-opened.
We are staying at the Herengracht 21 B & B in July. (Recommended by RS.) It has a front room on a canal and an apartment with AC suited for a family. Our room is 145, so it would probably be comparable. If you email for info, Loes will reply quickly.
Thanks for the inputs, I will keep checking
Take a look at Motel One, a German chain that has reasonable rates and good reviews. The have a hotel near the airport, but I read they are opening another hotel closer to the city soon. I think for 3 people someone would sleep on a rollaway, but their rates tend to be around 100€ a night.
I just returned from Amsterdam and I actually prefer to stay at the Hyatt Place at the airport and I use the train to go into the city or other places. They are great when you have 3 people and their Breakfast is first class. I have stayed at Hotel Broward but it has been sold and they are renovating but I found it to be very noisy right by the canal but the owners were lovely.
Thanks for this suggestion, Nancy.

I contacted this B&B via their website. Loes did reply quickly. We emailed back and forth and as a result, I have the Canal Room for 2 nights upon my arrival from Seattle on the way to Stockholm for one of the RS Best of Scandinavia tours in June. I also have it confirmed for the 2 nights before my flight back after the end of the tour.
The B&B has great ratings on Booking.com, but as often happens, any dates far in the future say there is no availability. No such indication on the B&B's website, and emailing was the best way to get questions answered and the reservations confirmed for my dates.
If you mean the Hampton by Hilton on Arena Boulevard - we stayed there 2 summers ago. It was a very easy ride into the city center. The tram was just across the plaza. The hotel had great wifi, large breakfast with many choices, and a very polite staff. The only draw back was once we left in the morning, we stayed out all day. A few nights we ate in the city, but most nights we ate at the restaurants near the hotel. There was a Mediterranean, Chinese, and steakhouse right outside the door. They were all good.
I would pass on the Hotel Abba. I was in Amsterdam last week. As I was waiting for a tram across the street from the Hotel Abba, I noticed the very distinct odor of pot coming from the open upstairs windows. The place looks pretty seedy. Numerous windows were open, and residents were stashing their bottles of refreshments on the window sills.
P.S. I wouldn't worry about hot weather in Amsterdam in June.
I stayed at the Room Mate Aitana hotel last summer. It was a great hotel, close to the train station and an easy walk to Dam Square. It was a modern hotel....very comfortable. It was just about around your budget.
