Amsterdam Hotel with Easy Local Transport

My husband and I will be visiting our daughter who will be studying at the University of Amsterdam in the fall. We would prefer to stay near her location but we won't find out where she is living until mid-August and our trip is in early September. She will be either near the University or near the north end of Sloterplas. I'd prefer to book a hotel now in between those locations and near a bus line so it will be easy to travel back and forth. What neighborhoods or intersections do you recommend? Thank you!
