Amsterdam - Gluten Free Dining, NYE, and an 11 Year Old

Hi, everyone! I did a search for gluten free and celiac in Amsterdam, but most of the posts were several years old. I am Celiac and have to be very careful about gluten (wheat, barley, rye) as an inadvertent exposure will completely wreck my body. I am having a hard time finding an up-to-date resource for gluten free dining options in Amsterdam. We will be there from December 26 until January 2, and I am trying to carefully coordinate dining as I know some places will be closed for the holidays. We are a group of four with an age range of 11 to 68, so planning ahead is important. Any insight, tips, links, etc are appreciated.

Speaking of planning ahead - NYE. I know NYE in Amsterdam can be WILD, so is there a good family friendly NYE event or place to watch official fireworks/drone shows?

Finally, are there any day trips or less popular places in Amsterdam that are a can't miss and might be a hit for everyone? This is our first time in the Netherlands, and while we have the standard "must do's" on our list, we love exploring off the beaten path type places. Also, I am a sucker for photography for so any places that have stellar photo ops are a bonus.

Thank you again for any insight, particularly on dining options and NYE!

Hi Rachael,

I can't comment about the risk of cross contamination, but I can say that we found the servers in Amsterdam knowledgeable about which items contained gluten and often had an allergen card at the ready. Gluten free pasta was easy enough to come by. Here is an example, https://luccadue.nl/
The Pancake Bakery https://pancake.nl/en/menu has a gluten free flour option for pancakes as well as GF poffertjes.
We also enjoyed a lunch at Piqniq https://piqniq.nl/#

For photography, the Damrak tour boat docks around sunset are fun. You should be able to find a dock that isn't in use to walk out on. It's a classic Amsterdam canal house vantage point if you can catch a still moment. The bridges around the central canals light up at night, so some intersting options after dark as well.
