Amsterdam during SAIL experience?

We are traveling in Amsterdam during SAIL 2015, a once every 5 year event celebrating sailing ships. According to SAIL, about 2 million people visit Amsterdam during the festival. Has anyone been there during this time? I am wondering how crowded it will be and if we should plan to stay somewhere nearby, such as Haarlem, before our cruise. Thanks for your help.

We will be there during SAIL 2015 as well. We booked a hotel near Central Train Station and have actively been trying to find out schedule of events and such for SAIL. From videos I have seen of prior SAIL, it is very crowded.
