We are visiting Amsterdam next month and we are wondering if the Amsterdam City Card will be cost effective for us. In looking at their site they don't tell you all it covers. We are looking at visiting the Rijks and Van Gogh museums, the Royal Palace, Our Lord in the Attic Museum, Anne Frank house, Dutch Resistance Museum, Rembrandt House and of course do a Canal Boat tour. Thanks!!
The full list of all things covered by the Amsterdam City Card is available to download on their website https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/i-am/i-amsterdam-city-card
If it’s not listed, it’s not included. The Resistance museum is closed for renovations until December 2022.
Get a map of Amsterdam and pinpoint the places that you want to visit.
We were there last month for a week. I booked a hotel near the Anne Frank House (about a block away). It was a small hotel with some steep stairs, but we were on the first floor (second floor in Europe). Cost was $1000 for a week with breakfast included.
It was the Nadia Hotel.
We never used the trolley at all, we walked everywhere. The Ricksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum were about a half hour walk from our hotel. The other places were even closer. We are in our mid-70s and didn't need public transportation.
This card is very expensive. Check out the museums and places that you want to visit. We spread out our visit to the many museums, etc. over a week and probably saved over the card.
