Amsterdam Central Hotels

We will be spending a couple nights on our own in Amsterdam June 2016 before joining a river cruise. Looking for hotel recommendations close to the central station area. And has anyone stayed at the Hotel Movenpick City Center?

Location-wise, the Movenpick is convenient to the Cruise Ship terminal, but not really within walking distance of much else except the Science Museum and the Maritime Museum.
If you want something closer to Central Station or Dam Square, check out the Doubletree Hotel, Ibis Hotel, RHO Hotel, or the Avenue Hotel.

You're very welcome! Avenue is a good hotel. Their free breakfast buffet is excellent! It's a full buffet with hot items not just continental fare. Plus it's got an ice machine.
