Amsterdam Canal Tours

Looking for recommendations for Canal Boat Tours. Would like to go in the evening and see things lit up. July is when we are going. Dinner/drinks/food.......it doesn't have to be an elegant fru fru dinner, but would like drinks and something to eat. Anyone have a great experience? Good recommendation for a particular company? I'm looking at Trip Advisor, too, but would love to hear from some RS travellers as well. Oh yeah, it's for 2 adults.

Hi Jennifer,
I have only taken the daytime hop-on hop-off tour but am planning on an evening cruise this August. I would recommend skipping the dinner cruise as when your eating your not sightseeing and vice versa. The cocktail cruise might be a better option after an early dinner. Less expensive and better dinning options.

We enjoyed taking the "hopper" now called a sloop from this company. https://www.canal.nl/en/open-boat-tours
They have a variety of boats to choose from and you can book your tickets ahead of time. Highly recommended for July.

A year ago the three of us went on Amsterdam Jewel Cruises. It is an elegant, expensive dinner cruise experience on an antique ship and it was totally worth it. I'm not sure if you would be interested Jennifer so I thought I would mention it. I kind of disagree that having dinner compromises an ability to sightsee. On this particular boat if you sit near the front, the captain will point out all sorts of sites and explain to you a lot of interesting things. It is 2 3/4 hours so not rushed at all. If you just want to enjoy the scenery with no commentary and you have more than two in your party, you will sit in the open air seats in the back. In this way you can get really good pictures. The boat only seats 20 people so it is not a mob and more relaxed. Space fills up fast. I would advise booking a few weeks in advance.
