My wife and I are planning to go to the Amsterdam Pirates baseball game on Sat Jun 8 at 2pm.
Looking at Google maps, it seems that tram line 17 and 27 are nearest (to the south) of the ballpark and line 13 to the north.
Does anyone now anything about the surrounding neighborhoods in terms of walkability and distance? Are there any other attractions along the way we should look for? Anything else to do? bars, restaurants?
Look at this site, which has comments about the local neighborhood.

Getting there is 2 recommendations:
There are two bus options from Amsterdam. From Centraal Station, GVB Stadbus 21 (€2.66) will get you to the Holensstraat stop, a short walk from the sportpark. A better option is leaving from Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station, where the GVB Stadbus 69 (€1.86) will drop you off at stop Bonpad, right across the street.
We actually passed right by those athletic fields on a bike ride out of the center of town. It is relatively close to the Sloterplas which is a fairly large city park around a small lake. I think that would be a nice area to stroll around. We saw boats on the lake, so there may be a rental option there to take out a kayak/canoe/rowboat, but I'm not sure. The ride out and around that area was easy peasy. For us, it was the return portion of the loop - by the athletic fields, past Sloterplas, the Rembrandtpark, and Vondelpark back into the city heart.
The area was definitely less "tourist dense" from both the amount of tourist out and about but also less dense for restaurants, but since Amsterdam is a "city" in the true sense of the word, the locals and business folks are eating out at restaurants, and looking at Google, the Osdorper Ban - a block or so south of the park - seems to have a strip of local restaurants with some having relatively good 4+/5 star ratings.
For me, my wife and I would hop on our bikes at the hotel, stop for lunch along the way (Vondelpark has a restaurant) or bring a picnic sourced from a grocery store (eating in one of the parks like maybe overlooking the lake), go to the game, and then ride home (5pm?) and get ready for dinner back nearer the hotel.
