Amersfoort or HOORN

I was wondering if someone could tell me which of these 2 places would be better to visit from Amsterdam in your opinion.
We dont have time to do both places.
Thanks

Hi, I can totally recommend visiting Amersfoort. Great city and most tourists don't know about the place. It's very different from Amsterdam as well.

I love Amersfoort but haven't been to Hoorn. The town is about 1/3 mile from the train station.

I haven't been Hoorn either. But I love Amerfoort. If I was moving to the Netherlands that's where I would want to live.

Amersfoort is much closer to Amsterdam but is much larger than Hoorn.

I spent a whole week in Hoorn last October and found it to be beyond charming. The history, prettiness, nature, and accessibility of Hoorn is magnificent. I could hardly believe that there could be such a beautiful city inhabited by only people of impeccable taste.

And then I visited another dozen Dutch cities where I experienced the exact same thing. It's ridiculous that place. They're all spectacular.

This discussion is of interest to me as well because I have a ticket for a concert in Amersfoort. I'm staying in Amsterdam and I thought
I would stop in Utrecht on the way and spend the day there before going to Amersfoort in the evening for the show. But now I'm thinking of going to Amersfoort earlier in the day. I know there's Mondrian's house. Anything else? Or is it just a matter of walking around and enjoying the town? I guess I would see some of it going from the train station to the venue, which is a place called De Flint.
Hoorn is also on my list... planning on stopping there on the way to Enkhuizen. But I hear the Westfries Museum is closed.

I have not been to Amersfoort but I loved Hoorn! I was there for a day trip and really wish I would have stayed longer. Next trip, definitely!
