Airpot to city

My wife and I flew into Amsterdam in May and took the train to the central station. It was cheap (about 10 euros) and quick. Once we arrived, there were helpful Dutch folks in front of the station that sold us metro tickets that took us to with a few blocks of the apartment we rented. The Double Tree should be a good source for the specifics.

According to the website of the hotel it is adjacent to the Centraal Station, to the left as you come out of the station. An easy train ride straight to the hotel plus a hundred metres or so...

If "we" is a large number of people or a huge amount of luggage a taxi would also work - all the directions are on the hotel website.

I'm fairly certain that we picked up our rental car when we left Amsterdam at the Double Tree. If so, it's a short walk (~100 meters) from the station.

It's super easy to get from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central. Once you exit baggage claim, you will be in the arrivals hall. This is where all of the trains and busses leave from. In the middle of the hall are kiosks that you can buy your train ticket from. The ticket kiosks and the schedule boards are blue and yellow and easy to spot. Select English on the ticket kiosks and it will walk you through the process. When I did it in May, I believe a ticket from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central cost either 5 Euros or 5 Euros and 50 cents. You will need Euro coins or a credit card with a chip to pay. Once you have your ticket, check the schedule for trains going to Amsterdam Central. If there isn't one headed directly there, most trains will make a stop there just check the schedule to see which platform the next train is leaving from. The platform numbers are marked on the walls above the escalators that go down to that platform. Also on the platforms are monitors that list the first few stops of the next train coming in so you can double check there that it will stop at Amsterdam Central. Check your hotel website for directions from Amsterdam Central to the hotel. Good luck, watch out for the bikes and have fun! Amsterdam is a great city!

We stayed at the DoubleTree in 2014. As others have mentioned, take the train to Centraal Station. I purchased the train tix while waiting for our luggage at a kiosk. Upon arrival at Centraal, exit the station and turn left. Follow the sidewalk to the DoubleTree. Make sure you watch for bicycles as you have to cross one street and a few bike trails.
