Has anyone used this service from Schiphol airport in to Amsterdam? Don't want to take train – too much luggage. Thanks
I haven't taken it but have seen it mentioned on the Amsterdam forum on Trip Advisor. At first it seemed to be a great service but now it seems that prices have gone up with popularity. A local who had been utilizing Abel is recommending the use of UberX over Abel. You say you have too much luggage for the train. Be aware that if you have more than one suitcase sized bag you need to book for an extra person for each bag you have. The cars are electric and tiny, so depending on how much you have you might have to arrange for two cars. One poster got left standing (and charged for ride) when all of their bags would not fit into the tiny car. Several posters over there seem to have discount codes for one's first ride. Be aware they are not a 24/7 service.
I used Tinker taxi our first trip over. They did not have our travel details and we spent about an hour looking around Schiphol before we were able to hook up with them. After that though, the trip was perfect with the driver seeing us to our door and making sure we were let in before he left. I would probably not use them again as I was thoroughly tee'd off about not being met and left to worry. You are going to have to have a working phone so the driver can plan on where to meet you at the airport if you take anything other than a walkout taxi.
Is there any reason not to walk out the front door of the airport, just past the Marche restaurant (yummy), and take a taxi waiting on the taxi rank? No hunting, predictable prices, go anywhere, anytime?
Appreciate comments. Signed up for Abel, but when arrived at airport saw they had us listed for wrong time so ended up taking taxi- it was a Tesla! 48 €
