A week in Amsterdam over New Year

Husband and I are headed to Amsterdam for a week over the new year’s holiday. We’re at The Toren for 7-nights, with breakfast. We’ve been to AMS eight previous times in 22 years, seven of those trips over NYE, as younger people on a shoestring budget. Time and more money are our luxuries. We know and love more Andre Hazes songs than some Dutch people. Our favorite neighborhood is the Jordaan. When younger, it was Rembrandtplein (which I understand is seedier now) and our old hangout, the now gone, Cafe van Otten. Looking forward to NYE fireworks and beers/champagne in the streets between Dam and Nieuwmarkt, but also wouldn’t mind taking shelter from cold/rain as the night moves along toward and past midnight. Suggested celebrations or places to be? We’re foodies looking for pea soup/ertwensoep/snert, stampot, pancakes, poffertjes, rijstafel, bitterballen, Febo, frites met mayo and pintersaus, apple pie/apfeltaart with cream/slagroom, etc. any good recommendations for these Dutch specialties? Aside from the usual spots - Rijks, Van Gogh, Dutch Resistance, Anne Frank, city museum, begijnhof, the former Hermitage museum, church in the attic down in the RLD, etc., all recommended in RS, what else should be on our list? Is the cruise hosted by The Pulitzer concierge the best or is there something else? Many thanks for injecting more energy into our plans. Ah, Mokum, can’t wait to see thee again!

Hi! Very curious how your trip worked out and how jammed Amsterda1m was relative to previous NYE? Sounds like a great time, we're considering it for 2024
