70 Minutes to Change Planes at AMS

Hi all,

I have read the thread below about changing planes at AMS coming and go to the U.S. But we are coming from Glasgow and changing planes to go onto Florence all on one ticket and with a carry-on bag.

Are there any tips to ensure this transfer goes smoothly?

Also, if we do get stuck at AMS, is there a hotel in the airport? I don't see one on the website.

Thank you!

There are big hotels right next to AMS. Hilton, Sheraton, Citizen M. All walking distance.

You will still have to go through Schengen immigration to get to the section of the airport for flights to Florence. If time is tight, see if you can get moved up in the line, I've done it.

I’ve transferred through AMS from an international flight headed to other European destinations easily within this amount of time. So it is quite doable. However, I prefer minimum transfer times of 1 1/2 to 2 hours just in case of originating flight delays or other unforeseen issues.

AMS is perhaps the one European hub airport where I would attempt this with reasonable confidence. I managed some crazy sub-45 minute connections there in the past.
And there are worse places to get stuck.
