Seniors couple, active, looking for a pre-cruise hotel recommendation for four nights, mid May, in a great location in Amsterdam so we can walk to a lot of sights. Ideas? Also any other recommendations are welcome Restaurants, tours, activities etc. Well traveled but first time in Amsterdam. Tks.
Hopefully the above Searches will be helpful. Safe travels.
hey hey Brian
what are your dates and budget in euros? been to amsterdam twice few years ago, it's busy, crowded and lots of BIKES BIKES BIKES and expensive.
you are late trying to find a place with tulip season, high season with many travelers starting the summer season and cruises.

put in filters, what amenities your want/hope for, any mobility issues (many stairs/steps & what floor), cancellation policies. rooms are small.

find a place first & book ASAP. we stayed in a houseboat in the jordaan area, there was 4 of us and we loved it. watched boat cruise on by, ducks coming up for nibbles, sitting out front with a glass of wine and appetizers, people watched. it's a beautiful city wiith so many decorated canals. any interests for you guys, picky eaters, let us know.
i'll put together a few things that i saved for fun things to do and see. it's my own opinion and what i enjoyed, everyone has their own thoughts. look at attractions that need reservations (anne frank house, any museums) book right away since they go fast or are sold out. good luck and will send another message later

Here are two threads for reviews of places we stayed/visited/dined on our trip last Feburary.

BTW, we did a tour to Zaanes Schans, Marken and Volendam one day. Our tour was not worth it at all. We did get to see inside the windmill, but then in Marken we barely had time for lunch and then it was off again following like sheep. In Volendam, we were watching a demonstration of how the wooden shoes are made, an the poor owner's machine broke down and he could not fix it, so our tour guide had us get on the bus and took us back to Amsterdam early, instead of letting us have that extra time to look around. I think other tours of these might be good, but ours was a bust. We booked through Tours & Tickets, which I have no idea why I did that, lol. So if you want to see these places, book with someone else.
