3 Hr Layover Schipol Airport - May

I will be traveling from Cape Town back to the States w/ a 3 hour layover in Amsterdam. Any suggestions on how I can spend time in a relaxing atmosphere after an 11 hour trip and before another 8 hour return trip to the States. Should I consider an airport lounge, if so, any suggestions? I am not an elite member of an airline/hotel/or credit card so would prefer a lounge that's reasonably priced. Thanks for your assistance! Well, there's the Yotel within the secure area of the airport which we happily utilized last year. The rate sheet lists a shower cabin for one hour at 15€, which might be all the time you can spare. Have a shower and maybe a meal in one of the many dining options.

Even if you are not an elite member of an airline, if you are a frequent flier, you may be able to purchase a daypass to the club lounge. Many of them have showers. Might be worth looking into.

There are worse airports to idle away a couple of hours than Schiphol. There ar lots of shops, everywhere, although prices on duty-free booze no longer look like an automatic bargain (my currency is rather weak.) WiFi is free everywhere and there's an Internet lounge.
The airport also has a small art gallery with items from the downtown museums. Nearby is a sitting area with a free piano that draws volunteer players. The airport website also shows a spa and, less relaxing, a casino.

I got a massage on my stopover at Schipol and it was great - totally relaxing. They have a massage station in the airport, not hard to find. Overall, it's a very pleasant airport to while away the hours (even looking at all the tulip bulb shops was relaxing).

Thanks Southam and Agnes for your input. SInce I'll be arriving after an 11 flight from South Africa and will be boarding another 8 hour flight back to the States I think the Yotel shower will be the best thing to provide a refresher for me. I appreciate your advice. Cheers,
Barbara

I spent the night at the Schiphol Yotel once. It would be fine for a shower. I could have used a can opener more than a room key.
