2 nights in Amsterdam - would love a room with a canal view

So, we are capping off our 2 week trip in June with a one day Amsterdam excursion. I would love to end this trip with a hotel with a canal view - not sure if we can afford this at the end of our trip. Is this unreasonable to consider for $200/night or less....or maybe we could just go for it and pay more for something special. Only live once, right? Suggestions?

Check out the Toren Hotel. I have not stayed there but RS recommends it and I have looked at the website and it looks very nice. Also Deborah Guber who blogs ( Vermont Professor) stayed there and enjoyed it.

I don't know your dates so I can't check but we really liked this one and it might come in within your range:

You'd want to book a twin-bedded room (they push the beds together) with canal view. Our's had a small terrace with a nice view of the Amstel, and good breakfast, too (included in the tariff.)

I found where I am booked. It is the MPS Holland. Google search it. It looks interesting.

I've stayed at BB IJ, a small B&B with very reasonable rates. The "garden suite," where I stayed, has not only a canal view, but access to a private garden right on the canal. However, they seem to have instituted a three-night minimum stay since I was there.

I did not write the below nor did I stay in the hotel but this was on the forum and I saved it as I hope to go to Amsterdam next year.
You may want to check this out below:

check out Bij Tijn op de Gracht. It's a fabulous canal house on Prinsengracht canal (9 Little Streets area) with a wall of windows & French balcony overlooking canal. Just two suites, one per floor. Gorgeous huge bathroom. Fabulous made-to- order breakfast. Books well in advance but worth looking into.

I highly recommend the website www.homeaway.com to find a small apartment or B&B to rent. You will save lots of money and feel like a local. I am headed to Amsterdam and Bruges in May and have made apartment reservations on this site. I have used it all over the world including Italy and Hawaii. It is worth looking into.

Hotel L'Ambassade is on the beautiful Herengracht Canal. It will cost more than 200€ but worth the experience.

I'm flattered to see that Ann had noted my comments about the Bij Tijn op de Gracht in Amsterdam. I don't know if it's under $200 but for one night, it would be an amazing splurge, IF they have a night available. I would email them directly even if a hotel booking website shows no availability.

We stayed there in 2014 and we still dream about that hotel. It was a little pricey, and it does have very steep stairs to contend with (so pack light) but it was one of our favorite places to stay ever. I booked it WAY ahead ... maybe 9 or 10 months. The next time we go to Amsterdam, we're going to check availability here first and build our trip around it.
