1st class vs 2nd class from Schiphol Airport to Arnhem Central Station

Hi,

I am planning to take a train from Schiphol Airport to Arnhem to visit the Airborne museums in the middle of June. I see the comments in the Internet that there is not much difference between 1st class and 2nd class on NS trains, and from the website it seems there is no seat reservation. Is there a good chance of having to stand in the 2nd class carriages in a weekday? If chances are high, then I would be willing to pay more for 1st class. I am planning to leave Schiphol Airport at 8:30 am and leave Arnhem Central station at about 5 pm.

It's just about 60 miles down to Arnhem, and that's not time enough where 1st class travel by train is worth it.

They have so frequent trains come through Schiphol and Amsterdam where you won't require any reservation.

We just returned from the Netherlands and rode several NS. trains. Second class is fine. We had no issues finding seats. You just use a credit card/phone wallet /watch to tap in and tap again when you exit. It’s a great system. We only bought first class tickets when we were traveling with luggage as those trains were less crowded and we travel with larger suitcases. You have to buy tickets for first class and use the QR code for those those to tap in and out so it’s not quite as convenient. The NS app is easy to use to check schedules and pricing and purchase tickets if needed.
