Hi everyone all the way from Dubai. My family is planning a Benelux trip on the end of May 2016 Please suggest 1 week itinerary for first timers like us. I look forward to all of your suggestions. Cheers! Denise 🌟
Fly to Amsterdam (Schiphol airport). Stay one night in historical and underrated Dordrecht (one hour by train from Schiphol airport). Have second day for a trip to Kinderdijk, taking the river ferry. Take late afternoon train to Mechelen (less than 1,5 hrs on hourly Intercity). Another quiet and agreeable provincial town. Have second day for Antwerp or Brussels (both some half an hour away). Go back to the Netherlands and stay in Haarlem (2,5 hrs on Intercity). A quiet beauty and a good base for Amsterdam (20 mins on the very frequent train) and the beach (10 mins on half-hourly train to Zandvoort). Take train (with 1 change, 30 mins) or bus (direct, 40 mins) to Schiphol to fly back.
It's a little bit rushed, but you've only got one week, and you wanted to see the Benelux, i.e. not only one country of the three.
