I'm a college student spending Christmas in Amsterdam with a buddy. Any suggestions on what district I should stay in? Or any good priced, centrally located hotels?

This Christmas? Like in 20 days? Good luck finding anything reasonable this late date. We have stayed in Amsterdam several times, the last time this last May, and we have always stayed in places recommended by RS guide books. You might want to check out his Amsterdam guide book if you have it already and if you do not have it you should get it ASAP. You can order it elsewhere on this web site.

I booked our extra days in Amsterdam about 7 months out.....my two first choices were already booked well over 8 months out!

Check out the Shelter Jordann (in the Jordann District). The hostel is very clean and the people are wonderful. Food service is available most of the day. You are only about 1 mile from Central Station but in a much more quiet and serene part of the city.
