My travel companions and I stayed at The Owl Hotel in Amsterdam the first week in May 2023. It was very nice and I would recommend it. The breakfasts were very good, it has a small elevator, and the location is great (walking distance to The Rijksmuseum and tram stops). I found it in The Lonely Planet guidebook because the places I've stayed before in Amsterdam weren't available for our dates.

Seconded. Not a 5* kind of place, but clean, comfortable rooms at a very reasonable
price, esp for that area of Amsterdam. Situated on a quiet, urban street, easy access to
grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, and Vondelpark. Stayed there in March 2023.
Thank you for your helpful post. How far is the Owl hotel from the nearest tram stop? Is it more than a slow-paced 5 minute walk away? What about the nearest grocery store? Also, were the beds a good size? Sorry about all the questions.
You're very welcome. The tram stops are fairly close--I would say 5 - 10 minutes to walk. I don't know about a regular (large) grocery store but there are several convenience stores about a block away. I stayed in a single, so I just had a regular-sized twin bed, which was fine.

From the Leidesplein tram stop (coming from Centraal Station, this is the stop
you would get off at), it's an easy 5 minute walk. Go down the street to the left
of the Marriott. A little farther from the van Baerlestraat or Overtoom stops on the
3 line to the west but this is only because of the placement of the tram stops.
Albert Heijn is the big grocery chain and there are several nearby - one back
across the bridge from the Leidesplein stop, a very large store in the museum
complex, and two on Overtoom.
I didn't see these posts before my stay. I stayed at the Owl for 5 nights in early October. The single room was very small but that didn't bother me. I enjoyed sstaying there, found the location very convenient and would recommend it.
