We avoid spicy foods, so sadly I think that leaves out Rijsttafels restaurants. We are on the April 23rd Belgium and Holland tour. Our time to the Anne Frank House is 5:45, so I'm looking for a restaurant near there, that is also in the direction for our return to the Dikker & Thijs Hotel. Any recommendations?
About halfway from the Anne Frank House and your hotel is Restaurant 't Zwaantje, which serves traditional Dutch food. I recommend making reservations. You can do it easily on their website.
Looks like we have a similar schedule on the April 5 tour. I'll be on the lookout for that restaurant.
Thank you Mary, it looks perfect!
I agree with Mary’s recommendation. With the exception of one dish, I didn’t find our rijstaffel spicy in the sense of hot. It was certainly flavorful and spices were involved. After being at AF House, some comfort food is the right choice. Get the beef stew at Zwaantje.
We ate at Moeders- (Mothers), which serves Dutch Comfort food. Try the Stamppot

Its an 11 minute walk, (750 meters) from the Anne Frank Huis
Rozengracht 251
Reservations are a must!. It's a small place. The walls are decorated with pictures of people's mothers.
I enjoyed Black & Blue, a steak house right around the corner from the Anne Frank House on Leliegracht, though that might not be in the right direction for your hotel.
Thank you Derek, we've selected Moeders for another night
If you are looking for more recommendations, I propose the Seafood Bar. There are a few locations in Amsterdam. We went at lunch and did not need reservations. But the place filled up very quickly.
Another vote for Restaurant 't Zwaantje. We ate there a year ago February and it was very good.
The other place that we loved was The Pantry. You definitely need reservations, but it was soooo good!
