We just returned from Leiden. Stayed at Hotel Vic near the Leiden central train station as arranged by my husband's company in Alphen.
Hotel Vic is a very clean, small boutique hotel with about 50 rooms. 2 working elevators. I did not care for the decor in the lobby or room, but the neon purple lighting on the outside of the building made finding the hotel easy at night.
The room was adequate size for Europe: walk in the room and through the bathroom: toilet in a closet, shower in separate like closet with one step to enter, small counter and sink just outside the shower. Shower had a hand held shower and a rain shower. There was a small medium shelf system with space for hanging clothes, open shelves for folded clothes, a small fridge and a safe.
Our room had 2 twin beds together and a small chair to sit near the window. On both sides of the bed were very small shelves with a built in charger for cell phones, and European plugs. No USB ports in the room. I had to move the small table from the sitting area to my side of the bed for my Bipap machine.
In the room was also free coffee maker, Nespresso like machine. A large TV. The usual toiletries were also supplied.
Although the hotel is marketed as check in/ out via computer in the lobby, anattendant was usually present. No restaurant but self service kiosk for beverages and snacks in the lobby with nice seating for a chat and a fuse ball table. Staff and restaurant at the Tulip hotel next door were available.
Walking everywhere in Leiden was easy and enjoyable. As was getting to/ from the train station for day trips or for my husband to get to his office in Alphen.
