My husband and I are traveling to Amsterdam in August and have decided on staying in the Oud Zuid neighborhood. We need a mid-range priced hotel in this area. We know the minimum we be $225-250 during August. Will it be warm enough for the need of an an air-conditioned hotel?
We have looked at lots of reviews on line but really respect the reviews given by the Rick Steves community.
Thank you in advance for advice!
We stayed at the Jacob de Ware hotel last July. We stayed in a 'comfort double' room which was in your price range. Be warned the room is very small (but the bathroom and shower stall surprisingly spacious). We travel with carryons only and there was a wardrobe to unpack what was needed and stow the bags. If you travel with 2 larger check in luggage pieces it could be problematic. Quiet neighborhood, close to the tram stops on Van Baerlestraat and the museums. We were very glad to have A/C. The great thing about a small room- you can be energy conscious and turn it off while you are out because it cools down quickly :)
