We stayed there in '08 and liked it very much. Good location and on a canal.

I have not stayed there but it looks very nice! Deborah Guber, the independent traveler ( she has her own blog) and if you google her, you will see her blog and she is a Vermont Professor who travels to Europe every year, stayed there as a solo and enjoyed her stay. You may want to look her up and read her blog. The hotel is also in RS guide book, if you didn't already know that. I wouldn't mind staying there.

It's a great hotel and a bit of a splurge. Rumor has it that Rick Steves stays there when he is in Amsterdam.
