Just got back from four nights in Amsterdam and wanted to make a report on the Nadia while it was still fresh in my mind. I paid 578euro for four nights in a twin room with included breakfast in March 2025. Booked directly with the hotel via its website and email, which in this day and age felt a little old fashioned. https://www.nadia.nl
This is budget accommodation, so read no further if that isn't your need. And it's not for the mobility challenged or anyone who wants modern, sterile accommodation.
Location: 5 stars. Kattycorner from Westerkirk, on a canal. Walk everywhere. There was construction outside, but it didn't really impact us.
The building is old and weird. That's the only way I can think to say it. There were several staircases and little hallways. It felt like a rabbit warren. The stairs are STEEP. Google "Dutch stairs" to get an idea of the type of carpeted ship's ladder I'm talking about. There is no lift, and as far as I can tell, there is nothing on the ground floor. We had a first floor room, but reception and breakfast were on the second floor, so we were up and down the stairs A LOT (you have to leave your key when you go out, for example). OTOH, they will carry your bags up and down for you at check in/out). Friendly staff, one of whom appeared to live next door to us.
The room was SMALL but well laid out. There was a tiny closet for hanging up a few things, hooks on the back of the door for our coats and a wall of shelves/desk that I used like a dresser (just put my open wheelie bag on it and lived out of that. There was also a small fridge (in which we left the cheese we intended to eat on the train, dammit!) and a kettle for making tea/instant coffee, which were provided. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, considering the size of the room. We were two friends traveling together, so we got a twin room. I do NOT recommend this option if you can stand to share a bed with your travel partner. These were the oddest beds I have even seen. They were shaped like Dutch people, long and slender. I didn't have my tape measure with me, so I'm guessing when I say they were 76-80 inches long (probably 2m) and MAYBE 30 inches wide (vs a twin, which is 36). I checked online and saw that IKEA sells a mattress that is 80cm by 200cm. I think this is the size. I am a big lady, side sleeper and "flipper" (I turn over a lot), and I nearly always felt like I was going to fall off the bed. Also, the beds were so close together, I had to wonder if we should have gone for the double. Our friends were in a double room and reported that it contained a proper double bed, not two of these skinny things pushed together. All that said, the mattress was good, and the sheets were clean and of good quality. The rest of the bedding and the towels were old and tired (also, quite dated). Everything was clean, but because of the age of the building and the dark colors of the carpet and walls, it felt like it wasn't clean. It didn't feel dirty or smell bad or anything, just old and dark. Hard to explain this, I guess.
We were overlooking a canal, there was construction outside, we were on the first floor, and we had huge single-pane windows (including one that opened that didn't really close up tightly), and we were not at all bothered by noise (although there certainly was noise, mostly during the day). We faced west toward the church and enjoyed the view from our room. We left the (dark, heavy) curtains open one day, and it was quite warm in the room when we got back. This was in March. I would not recommend this canal-facing room in summer, as I expect it would be quite warm, hot even.
The included breakfast was minimal but of reasonable quality. Coffee was fine. There is a pancake restaurant (that also does omelets and savory crepes) a couple of doors down if you're after something more substantial.
