Hotel in Amsterdam

Pat, just returned 2 weeks ago from Amsterdam. We were in a river cruise that docked in the other side of the terminal, looking at the water, to the left of the train station. The hotel is HUGE and looks completely devoid of charm....what’s your reason for staying there? So many lovely charming places within walking or tram ride from there instead. Thanks to help from this forum, we picked a great smaller BnB a tram ride away. There was a lot of construction going on, directly in front of the train station also, just FYI.

Hotels can be pricey in Ams. We stayed at Ibis Styles on Sunday for a reasoable rate including brfast. Outside looks a bit gritty but reception is very efficient and friendly and rooms quiet and very clean.
We were there this last wkend.
