Canal boat b&b?

I'd like to stay on a canal boat for a week in October. I have found several online, but would prefer a personal recommendation. Have you stayed on a canal boat? How was your experience? One question I have is, do you feel as though you're on a boat (decor, sound, movement) or is it a more modern apartment style? I'd prefer the former.
Thanks.

Hi!
As my personal expercience I'd suggest you the online rental boat company I've booked with to go cruising on the Canal du Midi, France.
Is called Filovent and I've had such a good experience with them.
I cruised for a week with a nice houseboat, discovering the old villages along the river and has been really interesting and rlaxing.
Where would you like to go?
The feeling depends on the boat you choose: some or them are new and nice, some others are older a more "old fashion". About the movement is definitely not like being on open sea, so you can enjoy your relaxig time either while cruising and mooring.

katetx2001, you might want to post your questions in the Q&A section under The Netherlands.

vale.galli91, Katetx2001 appears to be asking about staying in a permanently moored canal boat in the Netherlands, not a canal boat cruise in France.
