My spouse and I will be in Amsterdam in a couple of months and will celebrate our anniversary while we are there. I'm looking for a restaurant that would be nice for a special occasion without being too formal or touristy, and would appreciate any recommendations.

I can't vouch for any of these places, but if you're looking for something memorable, these seem to fit the bill.

Try The Pantry. Small, intimate, reasonably priced and great Dutch food. They have a website, you can see the menu and email for reservations. We, two couples, were there last July and dined there twice during our visit. If you are adventuresome try the smoked eel, as an app to share, it was quite good.
