The latest Rick Steves guidebook references a "narrated self-guided driving tour of the Bay of Kotor. However, I can't find it. Does one exist? Link? Thanks.
Not familar with any self guided driving tour of the Bay of Kotor.
However, there is a road that will take you to the towns of Njegusi and Cetinje that has wonderful views of the bay. But it is a road you may not want to travel if you or any of your party have a problem with heights or are prone to motion sickness.
It's known as the P1 road. It goes up (or down) the side of a mountain and has about 25 numbered 180 degree switchback turns and probably 75 other sharp turns. There's a rock wall on one side and nothing on the other. But, large tour buses do travel this road. Although it's probably a rare occurrenc, we saw several folks throwing up on the side of the road.
You can go to bing.com, use the map feature, and see aerial views of the road. Googlemaps.com. will also allow you to check it out. On 12 Mar. 2017 there was a thread on this forum titled "Greece Montenegro Croatia". One person included a link to a good map that shows the road. Another person had a link to a video made along parts of the road.
As stated above, the views of the bay from the road are spectacular and it's a good drive if you can handle it.
Just food for thought so you don't inadvertently find yourself in a bad situation.
I'm not quite sure where you read this (though I'm sure you did). I looked under "watch, read, listen" on this website and there isn't an audio tour. I did look in the Croatia and Slovenia RS guide which has some information on Montenegro and there is a "Bay of Kotor Driving Tour" on page 423, of the August 2023 guide. It does provide a turn by turn directions with narration. You are probably thinking its an audio tour, which is what I think the phrase you quoted implies, but this is just text though I think it could be helpful.
Its references in the latest Croatia/Slovenia guidebook. I, too, have not seen any narrated driving tour of Kotor Bay online. Must be a mistake on the book.
I'm also looking everywhere for this tour. In his August 2023 book on the bottom of p. 419 Rick says, "I've narrated a self-guided driving tour of the Bay of Kortor, and another for the most accessible slice of the Montenegrin interior." Narrated sounds like an audio tour to me!
