Driving from Danilovgrad, Montenegro to Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina via Niksic and Trebinje

We plan to drive a rental car in Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina in early May 2022. I'm wondering if anyone has driven the route from Danilovgrad, Montenegro via Niksic ant Trebinje to Mostar. Any information on road conditions or if a better route is advised. Thank you.

Where are you picking up the car and dropping it off? Are you aware that the drop off fee can be extremely costly when returning a car in a different country other than where you picked it up?
